The 10th Annual Shrimp CookOff is slated to be held at Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar in Kitty Hawk, NC – from 12:00 noon until 3:00 pm on Sunday November 3rd. This casual, fun competition has been a huge success since 2010, and we look forward to an excellent tenth annual event. We will have 8-10 competing chefs from around the Outer Banks, cooking fresh, local shrimp in their favorite style of preparation. A live MC will be keeping up with announcements and door prizes and a silent auction will also be held on the second floor of Ocean Boulevard, with a People’s Choice Ballot. The bar will be open serving Beer & Wine specials along with your favorite beverage. The cost per person is $25 at the door, and tickets can be bought in advance at Ocean Boulevard or Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital as well as online this fall. This year’s event is sponsored by the Nags Head Dolphin Watch, Kitty Hawk Kites, Outer Banks Veterinary Hospital, Saltbox Cafe, Joe Lamb Jr. & Associates, Access Design, TowneBank, and Jam Media Solutions. Thank you so much to everyone that came out for the 10th Annual Outer Banks Shrimp Cookoff! All of the chef dishes were amazing, the weather was beautiful, and a great time was had by all! Here are the winners of the competition:
1st Place Judge’s Choice:
1st place: Chef Jamie of Ocean Boulevard with California style wanton wrapped shrimp with spicy rice ball
2nd place: Chef Matt of Aqua S with sautéed shrimp blini with avocado purée and smoked tomatoes
3rd place: Chef Jim of Shipwrecks with Polynesian shrimp on crispy wanton with Kim chi cucumbers
1st Place Chef’s Choice:
1st place: Chef John of Sandtrap Tavern with chili lime shrimp cake on a steam bun with sriracha tartar
2nd place: Chef Dylan of Sooey’s BBQ with smoked shrimp salad on sweet potato gaufette with cranberry honey
3rd place: Chef Sam of Red Drum with lemon poached shrimp over scallion polenta with smoked Gouda cream

Our competing restaurants this year will be: Ocean Boulevard, Aqua S, Johanna’s, Sandtrap Tavern, Red Drum Grill and Taphouse, Outer Banks Frozen Yogurt, Shipwrecks, Sooey’s BBQ, and Bad Bean Baja Grill!
